Dr. Steciw has been creating beautiful smiles and enhancing facial aesthetics for children and adults of the Lehigh Valley for over three decades. A native of Swarthmore, PA, he and his wife Marie, a native of Emmaus, PA and their 2 daughters have made the Lehigh Valley their home since 1978. He is a graduate of Temple University and Temple University School of Dentistry. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Steciw completed a two-year General Practice Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.
After Yale, Dr. Steciw received his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1977. Following graduation, he was asked to join the faculty as a part-time clinical instructor in the Department of Orthodontics and remained on staff for an additional year and a half.
In 1989 Dr. Steciw was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Traditional ABO certification was granted only after 5-10 years of clinical practice. It required successful passage of written and oral examinations as well as presentation of case reports of patients which he actually treated and submitted for evaluation by an independent board of expert examiners. He was honored by the Board of Examiners to be one of only 19 candidates nationwide selected to display each of his case reports in all 10 case categories at the annual meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists. He received an additional accolade by having one of his case reports singled out by the editor of the “American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics” for publication in that journal. In his ongoing commitment to treatment excellence and dedication to patient benefit, Dr. Steciw voluntarily re-certified in 2006 and is only 1 of 2 orthodontists in the greater Lehigh Valley area to hold this distinction.
Although Dr. Steciw offers multiple conventional treatment options, he also has had extensive experience with the Damon™ System and Invisalign® since 2001. His particular interest is in complex treatment plans which require corrective jaw surgery in conjunction with orthodontic treatment in order to obtain the best possible smile aesthetics and facial balance. He has participated in over 100 cases of this type in his career and contributed case reports to the textbook Aesthetic Perspectives in Jaw Surgery by Harvey Rosen MD, DMD.

One of the most enjoyable and fulfilling aspects of practice for Dr. Steciw now is that he is treating a remarkable number of second generation patients who are the children of the adolescent patients he treated earlier in his career. Throughout the years, Dr. Steciw’s practice philosophy has been his belief that each individual is unique and has an inherent potential to obtain an optimal level of dental and facial aesthetics as well as function and health. His mission, in partnership with the patient, is to facilitate each individual’s ability to maximize and balance these possibilities and, thereby, increase their self-esteem.
